Early-bird registration closing for Sustainable Communities Workshop

October 3, 2019 by Post

SARASOTA COUNTY – Don’t miss your chance at a reduced-rate registration for the 14th Annual Sustainable Communities Workshop, set for Nov. 14 at the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Event and Conference Center, 4750 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota.
Oct. 14 is the last day to register at the workshop’s $35 “early-bird” rate, with prices rising to $45 afterward. Students receive a discounted rate of $25. Save now by registering through www.scgov.net/sustainablecommunities or calling 941-861-5000.

Under the “Growing Greener Generations” theme, the workshop will draw together residents of all ages, business owners and employees, non-profit leaders, and government officials to learn about environmental, economic and social aspects of sustainability. Multi-generational panelists will discuss the latest sustainability strategies, resources and best practices, and opportunities for involvement locally.
Topics include food systems, renewable energy, social equity, climate change, regional sustainability, waste reduction, and more. And don’t miss our three keynote speakers: Josh Tickell, an internationally recognized author and film director; Chris Castro, director of Orlando’s sustainability office; and Syd Kitson, Babcock Ranch developer.
Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks made with local and organic ingredients. Sponsorship opportunities are available for a limited time.

Visit www.scgov.net/SustainableCommunities or call the Sarasota County Contact Center at 941-861-5000 to register or for more information.
