WHO: Akilah Institute, Rwanda’s only university for women, has gathered some of the world’s foremost education experts and radical innovators to examine and explore disruption in global education models and industries beyond. Akilah’s founder, Elizabeth Dearborn Hughes, was raised in Tampa. The Summit is part of a two-day celebration marking the school’s decennial event.
WHAT: Ten years ago, the doors to the Akilah Institute opened and the lives of young women, many of whom were genocide survivors, began a complete transformation – indivuidally and in their culture. Today, the team has launched Davis College, a global network of universities. The Davis College community celebrates innovation in education, making affordable and accessible education a reality for millions of students around the world. Summit speakers include:

About Akilah Institute
Akilah Institute is Rwanda’s only university for women. Started in January 2010 as a way to educate female leaders for a sustainable future, the school offers two-year advanced diploma programs in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Information Systems, and Hospitality Management. Akilah will begin offering Bachelor’s Degrees in 2020.
