Pasco Tax Collector Staff Raise Over $4,525 to Support Historical Preservation in Pasco County

September 29, 2019 by Post

During the month of August the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office accepted donations from the public to support the two key historical societies and museums dedicated to preserving the history of Pasco County: the West Pasco Historical Society in New Port Richey and the Pioneer Florida Museum in Dade City. Tax Collector Mike Fasano’s office was able to raise over $4,525 to support this effort. The funds were split evenly between the two organizations. Not only did the charitable giving campaign raise needed funds to help support and expand both museums, representatives from both groups stated that during the campaign there was a definite uptick in visitor attendance at each respective location.

“As we continue to shine a spotlight on the excellent charities that provide needed services in our county, we try to dedicate time each year to assist organizations that feature cultural, artistic or historical services as well,” comments Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Groups such as the West Pasco Historical Society and the Pioneer Florida Museum keep the history of our community alive, especially for the younger generations who may only know about Pasco’s past through history books or old photos they may find on the Internet. It is an honor for our staff to play a small part in making sure that the past is not forgotten. As Pasco grows and the identity of the smaller communities may blend in with new development, it is important that the contributions of Pasco’s founders not be forgotten.”

The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office supports local charitable organizations that assist residents of Pasco County throughout the entire year.
