Celebrities and VIP guests of the popular Tampa restaurant can now experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by eating their meal with some of the most expensive dining utensils in the world. The set consists of a $20,000 diamond knife and a $15,000 diamond and sapphire fork.
Ron Ackerman, owner of Ackerman Jewelers and creator of the pieces, said that the knife “contains over 4 carats of colorless diamonds and the fork contains over 3 carats of colorless diamonds and deep blue sapphires. Each stone must be individually set by hand and takes countless hours in a painstaking process.”
So why the need for this and where did it derive from? The original idea for a diamond knife arose in Las Vegas through STK and Jason of Beverly Hills about 7 years ago that received sensational fanfare. They’ve had the likes of Kobe Bryant, Halle Berry, Foster the People, LeAnn Rimes, Gavin Rossdale, and countless other celebrities dine with their respective knives out in Vegas. Customers clamor for the opportunity to get a picture with the knives.
Ackerman and Stephen Hickey, Managing Partner of Eddie V’s, are looking to bring some of that flare and dining experience to Tampa. “Tampa has always been behind in jewelry trends by a year or two, but they’re rapidly catching up due to the influx of population and all of the cutting edge growth developments going on here. This partnership is a win-win situation in both the eyes of Stephen and myself. He gets to provide a dining experience to his guests that you can’t find anywhere else on the east coast of the US, and we get to showcase some of the amazing custom pieces that we’re able to create. We carry most of the top designer jewelry brands in the world, but we also have an exceptional custom department that can do almost anything”, said Ackerman.
And who gets the honor of dining with some of the most expensive utensils in the world? That’s a decision that falls into the hands of Stephen Hickey. “We’ve got our football, hockey, wrestling, and titans of industry regulars that will of course get the opportunity, but we also want that couple celebrating their anniversary to experience the momentous occasion. Book a reservation, put in a request for the knife and fork, and I’ll do everything possible to make it happen”, said Hickey. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the 1st Eddie V’s, and there is no better way to celebrate that occasion than to offer this type of indulgence.
