TAMPA (Sept. 18, 2019)—John Morgan, the Orlando attorney seeking to legalize recreational marijuana and increase the minimum wage in Florida, will speak at the Tampa Tiger Bay Club on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Cuban Club in Ybor City.
Morgan led the 2018 campaign that amended the Florida Constitution to legalize medical marijuana. He has already collected more than 1 million signatures for a proposed Constitutional amendment to raise the state minimum wage to $15 an hour. He recently agreed to also back a Constitutional amendment to legalize recreational marijuana.
In his last appearance at the Tiger Bay Club in April 2017, Morgan spoke to an overflow crowd at a time when he was considering running for governor. He later backed former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum but has recently threatened to sue the 2018 Democratic nominee for ending his campaign with more than $3 million in unspent campaign funds.
The luncheon meeting will be at in the Cuban Club ballroom, 2010 North Avenida Republica De Cuba (14th Street) in Ybor City. Lunch is served at 11:40 a.m. and the program begins promptly at noon. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.
