Capitol Steps Return to St. Pete’s Palladium Oct. 5

September 18, 2019 by Post

America’s premiere political-musical-satire troop “The Capitol Steps” will return to St. Petersburg, Florida for one night only at 5 pm on SATURDAY, October 5, 2019. The Palladium Theater, 253 Fifth Avenue North, will once again be the venue for the always-sold-out show. Tickets are $69, $62, $55 and available at the box office at (727) 822-3590 or mypalladium.org.

The theme this year is the “LYIN’ KINGS” and audiences know they can count on brand new material, a cast and skits that have put the “MOCK” in democracy for over nine Presidential elections. The new show made its debut this summer with rave reviews from Washington, DC to the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.

As a new Presidential election season ramps up, the audience will enjoy songs about the next Democratic primary candidates (“’76 Unkowns”) and the latest late night thoughts and tweets from President Trump (“Tweet It”)

The Capitol Steps troupe are based in Washington, D.C. and no matter who or what is in the headlines, they tackle all sides of the political spectrum offering timely laugh therapy.

And you can count on many timely skits and songs revolving around our current President. This formidable yet beloved group of comedian-singers carry on a tradition that began 35 years ago. “I’ve been a full-time performer with this nationally known political satire group for over 20 years and looking forward to our return engagement in Tampa Bay,” commented singer, actor, jazz-vocalist, producer, artistic Director Mike Thornton. “Our 90 minute show transcends all political views, and I get the last laugh because I get to play Donald Trump.”

“If you are a Democrat or a Republican…this show is for you! Check out Donald Trump singing a rock song, Bernie Sanders singing a show tune and even Vladimir Putin dancing shirtless.”
