Clearwater, Fla. – RCS Pinellas has teamed up with Spectrum and State Representative Nick DiCeglie to bring the mission of safe and healthy homes to Clearwater on August 28. Spectrum and RCS will distribute more than 160 free Safe & Healthy Home Kits from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the RCS Food Bank located at 700 Druid Road, Clearwater, Florida 33756.
“‘Giving back’ is a term we hear often. Throughout my years working within the nonprofit community, I’ve heard hundreds of companies state that giving back, or helping those in need was one of their core values; which is important to hear while on the proverbial front-lines. But what is even more important, is taking action by rolling our collective sleeves. Spectrum is not only providing these Safe and Healthy Home Kits by covering the cost, they will be here physically passing out the kits and sharing valuable information, a great example of charity and volunteerism,” says Kirk Ray Smith, President & CEO of RCS Pinellas.
Spectrum has partnered nationally with Rebuilding Together to create Safe & Healthy Home Kits, which feature easy-to-install and -use products to help make homes safer and healthier. We worked closely with our Rebuilding Together to ensure the kit contents align with the Eight Principles of a Healthy Home endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General and developed by the National Center for Healthy Housing. Kits include: first aid kit, night light, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide tester, cleaning wipes, caulk, weather stripping, DampRid, weather radio, lead information, and home maintenance checklist.
“When companies and local organizations work together, great opportunities like today’s Safe and Healthy Home kit distributions are possible,” says state Rep. Nick DiCeglie. “Thank you to Spectrum and the RCS Food Bank for helping local families and residents with much needed supplies and support in the Clearwater area.”
RCS Pinellas has provided help & hope to people in need for 50 years. RCS’s mission is to feed the hungry, help families facing homelessness return to self-sufficiency, and empower survivors of domestic violence. Over 130,000 Pinellas County individuals are served annually with dignity to accomplish this mission at the RCS Food Bank, the RCS Grace House, The Haven of RCS, RCS Affordable Housing, RCS Energy Assistance Program, and RCS thrift store partnerships.
