RCS Pinellas Announces CLEAN GREENwood Community Block Party

August 20, 2019 by Post

Clearwater, Fla. – RCS Pinellas has teamed up with The Florida Dream Center, Keep Pinellas Beautiful, and Mt. Olive Community Development Corporation for a morning of community service at the CLEAN GREENwood Community Block Party on August 24 at Safe House located at 1201 N. Betty Lane, Clearwater, Florida 33755. Registration is at 9:00 a.m., service projects begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by a celebration and picnic lunch at 11:30 a.m.

“The idea of community service is a simple yet important action that has been at the root of making our communities better for centuries; community service is the bedrock of collective impact and ownership. Too often teenagers are looked upon and perceived as problematic by certain community members. Through this project partnership we have an opportunity to challenge that perception. We have a chance to not only help make the Greenwood community cleaner, safer and healthier; we also have the opportunity to create buy-in and demonstrate that these young people assets to their community. It is truly an honor to partner with such great organizations as Keep Pinellas Beautiful, Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, and The Florida Dream Center to keep the Greenwood Community beautiful,” says Kirk Ray Smith, President & CEO of RCS Pinellas.

RCS Pinellas has provided help & hope to people in need for 50 years. RCS’s mission is to feed the hungry, help families facing homelessness return to self-sufficiency, and empower survivors of domestic violence. Over 130,000 Pinellas County individuals are served annually with dignity to accomplish this mission at the RCS Food Bank, the RCS Grace House, The Haven of RCS, RCS Affordable Housing, RCS Energy Assistance Program, and RCS thrift store partnerships.
