The first ever solo show opens at The Center for Architecture and Design

Tampa, FL (August 9, 2019) – The Tampa Bay Foundation for Architecture and Design announced the grand opening of their latest gallery and inaugural fine art solo show, Terra Mare Caelum by Alex Torres.

The show will be unveiled on Friday, August 23rd at 5:30 p.m. at The Center for Architecture and Design, 1315 E 7th Ave, Suite 105, Tampa, Fl 33605. Following a brief reception with custom cocktails by Florida Cane Distillery, Torres will give a talk on his works, methods, the inspiration behind this solo exhibition.

“I’m excited to have this collection unveiled at The Center for Architecture and Design.  Architecture and Art have a symbiotic relationship. As a co-creator, I appreciate the opportunity to work with the designer to create or identify a piece that will enhance a space, not compete with or detract from it.” said Alex Torres

Alex Espalter-Torres is a Cuban-American artist born in New Jersey and raised in Florida. His great passion for history and arts, coupled with growing up in a tropical environment built the foundation for his natural creative tendencies. Alex captures the beauty and emotions evoked by the natural world though washes of color and texture in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel, and graphite.

In his new series Terra Mare Caelum, he creates realms of imagined places removing the conventional structures to accommodate personal and viewer narrative. Throughout his career, Alex has exhibited extensively, and his works are included in numerous public, private, and corporate collections.

This opening is generously sponsored by Florida Cane Distillery, Dr. George Kwitko, MD, and Pennington P.A. This program is coordinated by the Tampa Bay Foundation for Architecture and Design.

TBFAD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating architecture, design, and the built environment through educational activities and public awareness events engaging our community.
