
GULFPORT, FLORIDA: If you write books for lesbians, now is the time to apply to be a featured author at the third annual Gulfport Florida 2020 ReadOut: A Festival of Lesbian Literature. This premier literary event brings together writers and readers of literature for lesbians to share their love of this special genre. Authors who wish to have their work featured at the upcoming event are invited to complete an application, today! ReadOut 2020 will take place Friday, January 31 – Sunday, February 2, in Gulfport, Florida.
To be a featured author and read from their work during ReadOut, authors must download and complete the ReadOut application. All applications must be received by September 30th. Authors will be notified of their acceptance no later than November 15th. The application may be found online at https://mygulfport.us/lgbtq-resources/
During three days of scheduled events, featured authors will share their works with an audience of readers who love to buy books. This year, acclaimed novelist Sheree L. Greer, whose most recent work, Bars, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, will be the 2020 keynote speaker and workshop leader. The theme for this year’s event is “Why Our Stories Matter.” In addition to the keynote, workshop, social events and book sales opportunities, Saturday night will feature entertainment at Gulfport’s Hickman Theatre by Nia and Ness, a dancer-poet performance art duo based in Brooklyn, New York.
Friday afternoon readings will be dedicated to Romance and Erotica; Saturday morning and afternoon will feature a mix of Fiction, Non-fiction and Poetry. The workshop and panel discussion will take place Sunday.
ReadOut: A Festival of Lesbian Literature is held in the colorful town of Gulfport, on Florida’s Boca Ciega Bay, just 30 minutes from Tampa International Airport. It is a richly diverse community with a robust lesbian presence. It is presented by the LGBTQ Resource Center, a non-profit organization within the Gulfport Library.
