
OSPREY, FL (July 29, 2019)- Sarasota Crew competed at the 23rd Annual Halifax Summer Regatta in Daytona Beach this past weekend. This 2 day regatta included both Junior and Master athletes racing 1000m with 26 teams represented and 279 entries.
John Stainbrook, Liam Collins, Logan Brown, and Sam Napoliello represented the youth athletes and brought home gold medals in every event they competed in. Logan Brown also took home the Men’s Junior 1x trophy for the fastest time of all 12 competitors.
The Sarasota Crew Masters athletes brought home 6 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. They also won the Men’s 1x Points Trophy, Women’s 8+ Points Trophy, the Sculling Team Points Trophy, and the Florida Masters Regatta Series Overall Team Points Trophy. This is the 3rd time and 2nd year in a row Sarasota Crew Masters have brought home the Overall Team Points Trophy.
“This weekend was a great success for the entire Sarasota Crew family and we are so proud of everyone that competed. The Youth committed to training through the Summer months and saw that pay off for them on race day. The Masters athletes put in an incredible amount of hard work, dedication, and persistence and remain the best team in the State of Florida. I couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve done to get there,” stated Masters Coach Jon Campa ñ a.
