TAMPA, Fla. (July 29, 2019) – Five internships, two study abroad terms and volunteer work helped round out a perfect academic record for the University of South Florida Alumni Association’s Outstanding Graduate for summer 2019.
The Association selects one summer graduate from the USF System who demonstrates exceptional leadership, school spirit, academic excellence, community involvement, and a love for the university. This summer’s honoree will be recognized at USF Commencement ceremonies Aug. 3 at the Yuengling Center.
Andrea Prospect, BS Public Health, USF Tampa
As a public health graduate with a minor in behavioral health care, Andrea completed five internships, three of which introduced her to under-served populations confronting different challenges, and two that taught her aspects of the financial and policy-making sides of public health. Andrea also applied her studies to volunteer work, including distributing water filters in El Salvador. Graduating in just three years, she has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, which earns her recognition as a King O’Neal Scholar, and is a member of Delta Omega, the national honor society for public health students.
Andrea has been an active leader on campus, planning welcome events for new students at the start of the school year and mentoring freshmen through Cru at USF, a faith-based student organization. Andrea is considering job offers resulting from her internships and plans to continue her public health education.
