(Brooksville, FL) The Hernando County Fine Arts Council invites arts, civic, educational, or cultural nonprofit organizations to apply for grants up to $500 each to produce, support, and encourage the creative arts in Hernando County. The deadline for applying is Oct. 4, 2019. Funded projects will take place throughout 2020.
Funding for this grant program comes from your generous donations, the purchase of your very own “Florida State of the Arts” specialty license plates, and proceeds from Art in the Park, the Council’s signature art and entertainment festival held the second weekend of March each year.
William “Bill” Yerrick, Council chair, explained that the Council exists to support the arts in Hernando County. “These grants help us do just that,” he said. “In just three years, we have supported 27 art projects, which involved more than 30,000 people in the arts.”

The Hernando County Fine Arts Council was created in 1987 by the Board of County Commissioners to encourage, promote, and support all the creative arts in Hernando County and provide a means to showcase the arts.
