Michael A. van Hamel, PhD, UIA, ALEP has joined MGT Consulting Group’s (MGT) Education Practice as Director of PK20 Facilities. Dr. van Hamel will provide leadership and management to execute diverse, high-stakes education engagements for our clients across the country. He brings three decades of experience in programming, planning, and architectural facility design. He specializes in master planning that combines educational planning, facilities assessment and utilization, demographic research, capital planning, and educational specifications.
Most recently, Dr. van Hamel was a Senior Design Architect for a Massachusettes-based architecture firm where he led community-engagement through group facilitation, strategic conversations, qualitative and quantitative surveys, and workshops to provide a community-based foundational vision to inform learning environment design. His prior experience and education affords him a unique understanding of how to bring research, strategy, and best practices to help clients achieve educational goals.

Also joining MGT’s Education Practice is Dr. Kasey Price. Dr. Price is a demonstrated leader in higher education, most recently functioning as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Leadership at Purdue University at Fort Wayne. Dr. Price has more than 15 years of experience in higher education administration and teaching including housing and residential education, leadership education, student affairs development, student life (i.e. organizations, activities, communications and technology), intramural sports, community service, and Title IX.
With a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies specializing in Higher Education, Dr. Price offers unique expertise in institutional research, analytics, student motivation, and student leadership practices. “Dr. Kasey Price comes to us with deep on-campus institutional knowledge and brings great initiative. Her energy and enthusiasm will be a valuable asset to our Higher Education market expertise,” says Hicks.
Both Dr. van Hamel and Dr. Price will lead projects throughout the country for MGT’s PK-12 and Higher Education markets – they join a distinguished staff of former educators and administrators that have completed assignments impacting more than 50 million students around the globe.
