Gov. DeSantis Re-Appoints Sarasota Attorney Nancy Cason to Third Term on Judicial Nominating Commission

Sarasota real estate attorney Nancy Cason has re-appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to a third term on the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

Sarasota real estate attorney Nancy E. Cason, managing partner of the law firm of Syprett Meshad, has been re-appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to a third term serving on the Twelfth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Ms. Cason, who is the current president of the Sarasota County Bar Association, will serve on the nominating commission for a three-year term ending July 1, 2023. The re-appointment was announced by the Governor on July 1.

The Twelfth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is tasked with selecting nominees to fill judicial vacancies created in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit (consisting of Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto counties)which are designated to be filled via appointment by the Governor’s office.

At Syprett Meshad, Ms. Cason’s practice includes commercial and residential real estate transactions and litigation, estate planning and litigation and business transactions and litigation. Ms. Cason holds the AV Preeminent rating, the highest possible rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings. Ms. Cason joined the firm in 1998 and was made partner in 2006. She was awarded her Juris Doctorate degree, with high honors, in 2002 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Ms. Cason was selected by Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, to its 2019 Florida “Super Lawyers” list; she was previously selected several consecutive years to the organization’s “Rising Star’ list, an honor reserved for lawyers aged 40 or younger. In 2018, she was elected president of the Sarasota County Bar Association, and in 2015, she was recognized by Legal Aid of Manasota for her pro bono legal service to those in need in the community.
