Florida Green Building Coalition Announces Scholarship Recipients

The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the leading certifier of green construction projects and a cornerstone of sustainability efforts in Florida, has announced that recipients of the FGBC Scholarship for post-secondary education.

Sophia Corugedo, University of Florida.
Alayna Delgado, University of South Florida.
Jackie Noval, a student at South Broward High School, will be attending Florida State University.
Kendall Karcher, University of Central Florida.

FGBC is dedicated to improving the state’s-built environment. Its mission is to lead and promote sustainability with environmental, economic, and social benefits through regional education, community outreach and certification programs.

Showing a commitment to promote a state of sustainability, FGBC launched the statewide scholarship program or students pursuing careers in green building or related sustainability disciplines.

Founded in 2000, FGBC has over 20,000 residential, commercial, high-rise, land developments, local governments participating in its certification programs.

Unlike national and international programs such as USGBC-LEED and Green Globes, FGBC’s certifications are the only standards developed with Florida-specific criteria to address issues caused by the state’s hot-humid environment, unique topography, geology and natural disasters.
