DETAILS: After participating in a three-week intensive theater camp, Patel Conservatory students ages 8 to 14 will perform this junior adaptation of the Tony® Award-winning musical, Annie.
Annie, Jr., a story with equal measures of pluck and positivity, tells the story of everyone’s favorite redhead who charms hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan, Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy. Annie, Jr. will feature the most memorable songs from the original score including It’s the Hard Knock Life, Tomorrow, NYC and more.
While studying in camp preparing for their stage roles, students will explore character development and gain ensemble experience, bringing the memorable music and characters of this beloved classic to life on the stage. Auditions are required to participate in this camp and can be arranged by calling 813.222.1040.
The camp will culminate in performances of Annie, Jr. July 18-25: Thurs. and Fri. at 7 p.m. and Sat. and Sun., at 1 and 4 p.m. The 1 p.m. performance on Sat., July 20 will be sensory friendly.
