LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Halfacre Construction Company, a Lakewood Ranch-based commercial construction company, recently completed a 13,365-square-foot welcome center addition and renovation for the First Baptist Church of Palmetto, which opened in 1892.
Construction on the $4 million project began in May 2018. The new welcome center connects the three buildings on the church’s current campus and serves as the new entrance to the church. The new structure’s design includes an exposed foyer, large storefront windows to allow for lots of natural lighting and a stair tower that extends above the roof line for a steeple-like feature with a back-lit cross.
“This project was a combination construction/renovation project for the church,” said Phillip Hamm, senior pastor at First Baptist Church of Palmetto. “Halfacre Construction has a strong foundation supported by integrity and expertise. Their team was extremely organized and pleasant to work with.”
Located at 1020 4th St. W. in Palmetto, Halfacre Construction Company also remodeled the children’s building, gym, sanctuary and office building, totaling 8,559 square feet.
The commercial construction company refurbished and installed the original stained glass windows from the sanctuary built in 1920 and demolished in the late 1980s.
