TAMPA (July 8, 2019)—A bi-partisan panel of Tampa Bay political leaders will discuss criminal justice reform at the Tampa Tiger Bay Club on Friday, July 19.
The luncheon meeting will be at the Chester Ferguson Law Center, 1610 N Tampa St. Lunch is served at 11:40 a.m. and the program begins promptly at noon. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.
Criminal justice reform has been a major topic of discussion from Tallahassee to Washington for leaders of both political parties. Tiger Bay’s panel discussion will feature state Sen. Jeff Brandes, Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren, Hillsborough Public Defender Julianne Holt and Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister.
The discussion comes less than a month after Gov. Ron Desantis signed into law legislation crafted in part by Sen. Brandes that creates procedures to implement Amendment 4, which restores voting rights to felons. Warren, Holt and Chronister have been working together to develop a system to implement the legislation, along with other issues related to criminal justice reform.
