Lutz, Florida – Local business owner and neuroscientist, Joyonna Gamble-George, Ph.D., of SciX, LLC was an attendee at the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Washington Presentation in Washington, D.C. on June 10-11.
As part of the NSBA delegation, Gamble-George participated in several activities aimed at providing small-business owners the latest updates on federal legislation, as well as increasing policymakers’ awareness of critical small-business issues. Attendees heard from a wide array of political experts, including Rick Dearborn who served as the White House Deputy Chief of Staff from January 2017 to Mid-March 2018. During a briefing at the White House, the delegation heard from top administration experts, including Chris Pilkerton, Acting Administrator of the SBA and John Melle, Deputy United States Trade Representative.
The following day, attendees participated in a Congressional Breakfast featuring Reps. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.), Rep. Dwight Evans (D-Penn.), and Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) along with Naveen Parmar, the Policy Director/General Counsel for the House Small Business Committee and Meredith West, Staff Director for the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. Attendees then met with the offices of several Senators and House of Representatives from their respective state of residence, where they talked about free trade issues, cybersecurity, data privacy, tax reform 2.0, reining-in health care costs, improving small-business contracting and much more.
