Sarasota, Florida – June 17, 2019 – SunCoast Blood Bank (SCBB) and Jones & Company from 107.9 WSRZ teamed up once again to co-host the 11th Annual Pints for Play blood drive. This year’s event was held at The District at University Parkway and collected 505 units of life-saving blood. With each unit capable of saving up to three lives, the 5,800+ units from all 11 years of the Pints for Play event can help account for up to 17,400 local lives saved.
“SunCoast Blood Bank was thrilled by the response to this year’s Pints for Play,” said Jayne Giroux, Director of Community Development for SunCoast Blood Bank. “So much goes on behind the scenes at the blood bank and WSRZ to pull off a 13-hour commercial-free blood drive. Jones & Company have not only put SunCoast on the map, they have put us in the hearts of our community. The impact of this event is immeasurable. The blood donated at Pints for Play is on the shelves of our local hospitals now and saving lives every day.”
In addition to saving lives through their blood donations, participants of Pints for Play had the opportunity to play any song of their choice or have 30 seconds to “plug” their business on 107.9 WSRZ. Donors also received a commemorative T-shirt, a limited edition Tervis Tumbler courtesy of Badger Bob’s Services, and the chance to win a two-year lease on a Ford Ranger XLT, courtesy of Sarasota Ford.
“Even though we have been doing Pints for Play for 11 years, we continue to be surprised and humbled by the generosity and support of our community,” said David Jones, co-host of Jones & Company on 107.9 WSRZ. “For all of us at WSRZ, it is a totally unique opportunity for our listeners to pick the music for 13 hours straight. However, the best part of Pints for Play is the countless lives that are saved and affected by people giving of themselves. Thank you!”
