GULFPORT, FLORIDA: Join members of the LGBTQ Resource Center and the Gulfport Public Library on Thursday, June 27 at 7:00 p.m. for BranchOut!, a night of music and fun as we celebrate the recent establishment of the Resource Center as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We will also happily recognize our great volunteers, as well as the wonderful support of the Gulfport Library staff and the Circle of Friends of the Library, and the recent accomplishments of the Library and Resource Center. Enjoy complimentary wine, soft beverages and appetizers, as well as live music by powerhouse vocalist/singer/songwriter/guitarist and Resource Center Board Member Brittany Baldwin. This event is free and open to the public at the Gulfport Public Library, 5501 28th Ave. South.
The LGBTQ Resource Center was established in 2014 and is the first of its kind in a public library setting in Florida, providing collections, services and events throughout the year to the local LGBTQ community, its friends and family. The Library and Resource Center have recently received accolades, including the Newlen-Symons Award for Service to the LGBTQ Community from the American Library Association in 2018, as well as a 2019 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation’s highest honor for institutions that make significant and exceptional contributions to their communities, from the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
