An Art Contest and Gala to bolster awareness of the talents and contributions of local artists!
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (May 29, 2019) – Bayshore Marketing Group and Footprints Charities, Inc. has officially kicked off the 2nd Annual “Art Ties Us” contest! Art Ties Us is a passion project fueled by the desire to recognize and celebrate the artistic and economic contributions local artists have made throughout the City of St. Petersburg. What starts as a contest will end with a celebration of the Arts and Artists of St. Petersburg at the Art Ties Us Gala in the Grand Ballroom of The Birchwood on Friday, September 13, 2019.
Local artists are encouraged to submit their own creative original work of art for the contest. All submissions will be featured online for a community vote as well as seen by a panel of esteemed art judges. There will be five winners:
● 1st Place as voted on by the Panel of Judges, $1,500 Cash Prize
● 2nd Place as voted on by the Panel of Judges, $1,000 Cash Prize
● 3rd place winners as voted on by the Panel of Judges, $750 Cash Prize
● Online popular vote winner, $500 Cash Prize
● Art Ties Us Committee Selection, $500 Cash Prize
“With the success of last year’s contest and event, we are thrilled to once again celebrate the incredible artists we have in our community, while bringing awareness to the significant economic contribution the arts have had in St. Petersburg,” says Monica Lukasik, event Chair. “Our city has an amazing appetite for creativity and our goal is to highlight it all,” she continued. Chuck Prather, owner of The Birchwood, has once again agreed to have neckties made in the likeness of the top three winners which will be worn by his staff for one year following the Gala.
The Gala will host 200 + art enthusiasts and will kick off with an Open Bar and tastings from Birch & Vine, 1200 Chophouse, Dr. BBQ and Café Cibo who are local restaurants who support the Arts. Art submitted for the contest will be auctioned and all proceeds will benefit the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts.
