Meals On Wheels of Sarasota hosted its 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club with 18 teams competing for a cause. Following the golf game, golfers enjoyed a buffet dinner, awards ceremony and live music performed by “Panama Drive.” Proceeds from the event will feed 3,000+ homebound seniors, Veterans, children and families in need in Sarasota.
This year’s first place winners were team Kennedy White Orthopedic Center – also a sponsor of the event – players were Bill Kennedy, Charles Rush, Erik Herman and Michael Moustoukas. Second place winners were Michael Kulaw, Carl Watkins, Dave Crum and Kevin Crane playing on team WUSF Public Broadcasting. The “closest to hole” awards went to Kevin Rutkowski and Betsy Nelson, and the “longest drive” winners were Michael Moustoukas and Angie Ramos.
“To us, all the players are winners for supporting our work,” said Marjorie Broughton, Executive Director at Meals On Wheels of Sarasota. “It was a wonderful event thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and golfers. We raised much-needed funds that will help us deliver heart healthy meals to our homebound neighbors in need.
Major event sponsor Dex Imaging provided financial and operations support, Kennedy White Orthopedic Center, Aqua Plumbing and Air, Cumberland Advisors, Gold Coast Distributors, Gecko’s Pub and Grill, RBC Wealth Management, and Sara Bay Real Estate also sponsored the event.
