SynergyWiz launches Kickstarter for an injection molded Glider v3.0… changing the way people ride and transport the Onewheel.
St. Petersburg, Florida – May14, 2019
Onewheel has been bringing the excitement and adrenaline rush of board sports to everyday travel since 2014. With the rising popularity of the single-wheeled electric skateboard, more and more people are experiencing the perks of this revolutionary method of personal transportation. However, the Onewheel is not without its drawbacks. After reaching their destination, riders face the inconvenience of carrying the hefty thirty-pound board around with them. Additionally, a short stop or an impromptu nosedive can result in the rider catapulting from the board and risking injury. SynergyWiz has been addressing these problems with their 3D printed product, the Glider (v1.0 and v2.0), for over two years, and now they are positioning themselves to offer an even better, more affordable version of the Glider as they launch their Kickstarter campaign for an injection molded Glider v3.0.
As an attachment accessory, the Glider adds two small wheels to the front of the Onewheel, as well as a handle to the back, allowing the user to walk the Onewheel like a carry-on suitcase, thus eliminating the need to carry the tiresome weight of the board. Additionally, the small wheels at the front of the board allow the device to continue rolling, rather than launching the rider forward, in the event of an abrupt stop, which increases the overall safety of the device.
With two successful Kickstarters behind them, SynergyWiz is aiming to continue their winning streak with a third Kickstarter, this time to raise the funding necessary to have the product injection molded and professionally manufactured. The company has been successfully selling the 3D printed version of the Glider for over two years. However, they are confident that injection molding and mass production will take the product to the next level in durability and affordability. Injection molding is the process by which products are manufactured by injecting heated material into a pre-made mold, and it is the most commonly used method of manufacturing plastic products. With solid bumpers, stainless steel plates and battery protectors, stainless steel hardware, magnetic handle locking, a smooth flawless finish, increased compatibility with other Onewheel accessories, a one year warranty, and a significantly reduced price point, the Glider v3.0 boasts tremendous improvement over the 3D printed Glider v2.0. The first round of production will offer a Full Bumper Package (handle and wheels) as well as a Single Bumper Package (just wheels) for Onewheel Plus and XR in black, with additional color options and Onewheel model offerings planned for the future.
Founder and owner of SynergyWiz, designer of the Glider, and Onewheel enthusiast, John Toner, has been growing and developing the product since its infancy. According to Toner, “we’ve come a long way since our first Kickstarter in 2017. We’ve spent over two years perfecting the design, and we’re very excited for this next step. Even as a 3D printed product, demand for the Glider has continued to increase. Injection molding has been a long time coming, and we’re more optimistic than ever about the Glider’s potential to be a staple accessory in the Onewheel community.”
As the original, patent pending design, the Glider has inspired a whole new category of handle-and-wheel accessories for Onewheel, and is leading the way in product development for similar products. The Glider will be the first injection molded handle-and-wheel Onewheel accessory to hit the market and will provide a new standard for quality in its category, as well as a new standard for convenience and safety in Onewheel accessories. “We’re pulling out all the stops with v3.0. This is going to be a pivotal and transformative move in the Glider’s evolution. We’re hoping to have the support of customers both old and new with the Kickstarter to ensure that the Glider v3.0 will be our best product yet”, said Toner.
