Lessons Learned as a PIO at the Dick Pope/Polk County FPRA Chapter Meeting

LAKELAND, Fla., May 8, 2019 – Communicating on behalf of a public safety agency can be challenging. Janel Vasallo, public information officer (PIO) for the Lakeland Fire Department, will draw upon her experiences and offer insightful tips for professionals working in public relations with limited resources. She will be joined by Robin Tillet, PIO for the Lakeland Police Department. Vasallo and Tillet will share how they’ve had to be creative and think outside of the box at the next meeting of Dick Pope/Polk County chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association May 15, 2019.

The meeting, which includes breakfast and networking opportunities, will be held from 7:30-9:00 am. at Fresco’s, located at 132 South Kentucky Avenue, Lakeland, Fla. 33803. The meeting is open to the public. Online RSVP open until Monday, May 13 FPRApolk.org or contact info@fprapolk.org. The cost for members who pre-register is $17 and guests $22. Student members who pre-register may attend for $7 and student guests may attend.

The Dick Pope/ Polk County Chapter of FPRA provides professional development, accreditation and certification, leadership opportunities, recognition, networking, and funding of educational and professional development programs for members. For information on the state organization, visit fpra.org.

The Dick Pope/Polk County Chapter of FPRA holds monthly meetings at Fresco’s (132 S. Kentucky Ave, Lakeland, Fl 33801) unless otherwise indicated. Members and guests are always welcome but it is necessary to RSVP at FPRApolk.org or contact info@fprapolk.org to reserve your seat.
