Deep Purple: The Long Goodbye TourFriday, September 27 at 8pm |
Deep Purple – comprised of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey – announce The Long Goodbye Tour which will include over 25+ dates across North America, kicking off on September 3 in Riverside, CA. With a body of work spanning seven decades, Deep Purple has helped pioneer and define the hard rock genre whilst progressively moving into new areas to keep their sound fresh and attract new fans to the legions who have remained loyal since the band’s inception. Known as one of the hardest working bands ever, Purple has released 6 studio albums since 1996 alone and has toured globally since forming in 1968 with little rest. In 2007 (almost 40 years after being formed) the band performed 40 dates in France to an award-winning audience of 150,000 whilst this summer, across the US and Canada, the band partnered with fellow hard rockers ‘Judas Priest’ embarking on a wildly successful 25 city tour! Purple has stayed true to its musical roots taking from an eclectic mix of styles to create a distinctive sound that defines the band today, but which in turn, has created a legacy that very few bands could ever hope to replicate. The band has written and produced so many “classic” songs that its audience ranges widely in age and background, something the band has embraced and caters to, with its concert set lists. There simply aren’t enough superlatives to properly acknowledge the contribution Deep Purple has made to rock music. Having sold more than 100 million albums and filled global arenas for decades, it’s little wonder respected British radio station Planet Rock named the group the ‘5th Most Influential Band Ever’, whilst VH1 ranked them #22 on its ‘Greatest Artists of Hard Rock’ list. Additionally, Deep Purple was given the ‘Legend Award’ at the 2008 World Music Awards and, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. Ticket Prices: $129.50, $99.50, $79.50, $69.50, $59.50 How To Purchase: Online at www.TheMahaffey.com, by phone at (727) 300-2000, or at the Box Office, located at 400 1st St. South Downtown St. Pete. The Grammy-nominated band will take the 20 Years of Make Yourself & Beyond tour to 39 cities across the country, playing songs from that era as well as other songs spanning their career. Joining Incubus in St. Petersburg is Mexican garage punk band Le Butcherettes. “We are so looking forward to this Fall tour. Make Yourself was such a pivotal moment in our band and we are beyond excited to reintroduce this album to our audience while also showcasing the many musical roads it ultimately led us down. See you soon!” said Brandon Boyd. Incubus – Brandon Boyd (Vocal), Mike Einziger (Guitar), Jose Pasillas II (Drums), Chris Kilmore (Keyboard/DJ) and Ben Kenney (Bass) – have sold over 23 million albums landing four Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 and one #1 album. The band saw global success across eight studio albums having achieved RIAA gold, platinum and multi-platinum success along with four singles hitting #1 on the Billboard Alternative Song chart, including “Drive”, “Megalomaniac”, “Anna Molly” and “Love Hurts”. The band has cemented its legacy in not just music but in giving back with their nonprofit, The Make Yourself Foundation. The foundation was started in 2003 by the band, and serves as a vehicle for its members to support causes they care about. With the help of fans around the world, the nonprofit raises money and awareness for nonprofits of various categories, and creates opportunities to give back to the audience for giving back to the world. Since its inception, MYF has raised several million dollars and awarded grant funding to over 60 nonprofit organizations. For more information on Incubus visit: http://www.incubushq.com/.
