Tampa, Fla. – May 3, 2019 – Ignite! Tampa Bay is a high-energy evening designed to inspire, educate, entertain and spark new ideas and conversations across cultures and disciples of the Tampa Bay Community. Through fast-paced, bite-sized presentations community members get on stage and share their personal or professional passion. It’s a great opportunity to meet smart, interesting people (if we do say so ourselves) and maybe even learn something.
Presenters have five minutes and 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds. At Ignite! Tampa community members involved in technology, arts, communications, education, non-profit, the government sector and more will take the stage to answer this challenge.
The first round of speakers for this year’s Ignite! Tampa event has been selected. This year’s event will include:
• Ericka Guy – The Richness of Our Tapestry
• Michael Gamson – I-Ching, Binary Digits Before Binary Was Cool
• Riley Schofner – LGBTQ+ Within Steven Universe
• Veronica Blakely – Own Your Voice
• Shane Smith – Whales: If You Love Them You Will Put Them In Cages
• James Waugh – Not Just A Bunch of Rolling Steel
“Ignite gives anyone in the community an opportunity to be a rock star for five minutes sharing their passion on stage. We are honored to have such great presenters selected in our first round for this year’s Ignite! Tampa Bay. This is a testament to the quality and diversity of the Tampa Bay community. It’s also a fun and inexpensive evening out and a chance to meet others in the community who are talented and passionate about sharing the exciting things happening in our area,” says Michael Sunderland, this years’ event chair.
The eleventh annual event will be held on June 6th at in the Historic Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg. Join the Tampa Bay Community fun and enlightening evening with presentations are meant to “ignite” the audience on a subject, that is, to stimulate thought and action on the topics presented. The first Ignite! took place in Seattle in 2006, and since then the event has become an international phenomenon.
