Public is Invited to a flag raising and celebration of life ceremony on April 22
Hudson, Florida (April 11, 2019) – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in collaboration with LifeLink® Foundation, Inc., will celebrate Donate Life Month on April 22 with a flag ceremony at 10 am followed by an opportunity for people and families to register in the donate life program. Donor families, donor recipients and the public are invited.
Guest speaker will be Laura Sammon-Linton, 2017 Frist Humanitarian Award winner. One of the many reasons for Laura’s recognition as a Frist Humanitarian Award winner is for reputation as a full commitment as an organ donation advocate. In 2010 she personally donated a kidney to her sister at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. As such, she continues to be an advocate for organ donation as she is a LifeLink® volunteer, New York City Kidney Walk participant, and a participant in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. She was featured with her sister in the National Kidney Foundation education video series “Living Well with Kidney Failure.” Laura has personally donated DVD players and over 100 movies to UNC Rex Cancer Center for patients to view during infusions. She meets with individuals considering living kidney donations and helps them to come to an informed decision about whether to donate.
Light refreshments will be served, and the public may register as organ donors.
About National Donate Life Month
National Donate Life Month (NDLM) was established by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations in 2003. Celebrated in April each year, Donate Life Month features an entire month of local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and to celebrate those who have saved lives through the gift of donation.
