SARASOTA COUNTY – Big trucks are rolling back into Nathan Benderson Park for the annual Big Truck Day, and Sarasota County wants your truck to be part of the action on Saturday, April 20. This popular event is held to give children and adults a chance to explore the vehicles and trucks they see on the streets, as well as meet and speak with the people who operate them. This is the second year the community has been invited to bring their own trucks to take part in the action. “In previous years, some of the big trucks featured were dump trucks, fire trucks, payloaders, bucket trucks and buses,” said program coordinator Jamal Edwards. “Now we’re inviting the community to take part, show off their trucks and have some fun!” Now in its 23rd year, the event will feature two eggs hunts for kids ages four and younger, and for five and older. Food vendors will also be available. Nathan Benderson Park is located at 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle. The event is hosted by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources and Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Inc. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact program coordinator Jamal Edwards at 941-486-2780 or jedwards@scgov.net if you’re interested in participating and providing a truck for the event.
