TARPON SPRINGS, FL – April 4, 2019, The Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts (TSLCA) announced today that five of its instrumental music students were selected to collaborate and perform with some of the most outstanding high school music students in the nation through prestigious national ensembles.
Arwyn Ivey (bass) and William Ramos (bassoon) will both be participating in NY02, operated by Carnegie Hall in New York City. NYO2 is a three-week, intensive summer orchestral training program for outstanding American instrumentalists ages 14-17. The musicians will travel to Miami Beach for a weeklong residency. As part of their training, NYO2 players have the opportunity to work with New World Symphony Fellows leading up to a performance at the New World Center on Saturday, July 27th. Following their Miami residency, NYO2 returns to New York for a culminating performance at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, July 30th.
William Ramos was also selected to be part of Music for All’s Honor Orchestra of America. In addition, Jack Gilliland (saxophone), Samantha Kopec (clarinet), and Zoe SirLouis (bassoon) were selected for Music for All’s Honor Band of America. Both ensembles performed at the Butler Arts Center in Indianapolis during the Music for All National Festival from March 14-16. Music for All is an Indianapolis based non-profit that has set the standard for scholastic music ensemble performance and music education advocacy. The Honor Orchestra, and Honor Band, of America are inspiring, meaningful, and thrilling experiences for outstanding high school orchestra and band musicians. Students get to rehearse and perform with renowned conductors and perform for a “dream audience” of top school musicians and educators from across the United States.
