ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 8, 2019) – The St. Petersburg Free Clinic has opened a second Health Center to better serve the needs of the St. Petersburg community. The Free Clinic’s South St. Petersburg Health Center provides free health and wellness services for uninsured adults in South St. Petersburg.
The South St. Petersburg Health Center is located in the Davis Bradley Community Involvement Center, 1735 Martin Luther King Jr. St. South. This location provides better access for patients in the South St. Petersburg area to address and manage a wide range of medical conditions and to improve their overall health and quality of life.
“We found that some patients didn’t have transportation to reach our main Health Center location, so we’re bringing our services to patients in our community,” said Beth Houghton, the St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s CEO. “Convenient access to services is key to increasing health.”
The Free Clinic’s South St. Petersburg Health Center is open Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. An on-site nurse practitioner and various volunteer health care providers are available to care for uninsured adults aged 18-64. Its free health and wellness services range from routine exams to diabetes management.
The most common areas of concern for patients is diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The Health Center provides medical services like diabetic screening and health education to help patients better manage their conditions.
The Free Clinic provides basic health and wellness services for thousands of low-income uninsured adults in Pinellas County. Last year, the Health Center provided over 9,300 basic health and wellness services – like health screenings and physical therapy ¬–¬ for free.
The Free Clinic’s main Health Center is located at 5501 4th St. N. in St. Petersburg. For more information about the Free Clinic’s health and wellness services at each location, visit https://stpetersburgfreeclinic.org/projects/health-center/.
