Brooklyn, NY; SARASOTA, FL — J. McLaughlin is pleased to announce the launch of the 2019 spring catalog, produced in collaboration with the Sarasota Architectural Foundation (SAF). As part of the company’s commitment to celebrating its local communities, the catalog showcases The Umbrella House, The Cocoon House, Revere Quality House and other Sarasota landmarks.
“Modernism is at the heart of the J. McLaughlin brand,” says Kevin McLaughlin, co-founder and creative director. “When it came time to shoot our new spring collection, Sarasota, the epicenter of East Coast Modernism, just felt right. Between the rich history, the lush tropical landscape and the extraordinary homes designed by architects Paul Rudolph and Ralph S. Twitchell and other members of the Sarasota School of Architecture, we knew this sunny, sophisticated Gulf Coast city would be the perfect backdrop for the catalog.”
In addition to shooting the mid-century modern homes with SAF, the J. McLaughlin creative team spent several memorable days exploring the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, the Ringling Museum, the Sarasota Polo Club, Sarasota Jungle Gardens, St. Armand’s Circle and the J. McLaughlin store at the corner of Main Street and Lemon Avenue in downtown Sarasota. Each location brought a distinctive spirit of place to the catalog.
“We’re honored to have collaborated with J. McLaughlin to produce the new spring catalog,” says Christopher Wilson, SAF board chair. “By creating vital awareness of SAF, this fine American brand is helping further our mission to protect and preserve these iconic examples of the Sarasota School of Architecture.”
The spring catalog was mailed to more than 700,000 homes throughout the country and shared on social media. In addition to the company’s support of SAF, they support organizations across the country and give back to the communities where they have stores.
“Being a good neighbor” is central to the brand’s approach to business, and J.McLaughlin puts special value on being a welcome and active member of each community in which it is based.
