GULFPORT, FLORIDA: The LGBTQ Resource Center is now planning its third annual ArtOut exhibit, with an opening reception to be held on Thursday May 30 at the Gulfport Public Library (5501 28th Ave. South), following a Pride march and LGBTQ Pride Flag raising ceremony at the Library. The previous ArtOut events have been very successful and well-attended. LGBTQ artists in Gulfport are now invited to have their work considered for this year’s event. Gulfport artists who are straight allies are also invited to apply if their work depicts or supports LGBTQ inclusion.
The deadline to commit to participation is April 30, 2019. There is no fee for participation. For more information and to express interest, contact Beryll or Tessie at 727-503-9227 or email GulfportArtOut@gmail.com.
Artists selected to participate will be able to include from one to three pieces of work in any medium. The ArtOut exhibit will remain on display in the Library atrium throughout LGBTQ Pride Month in June. Artists are invited to display business cards or contact information if they are interested in having viewers contact them regarding the purchase of their art work. Artists will also be invited to attend the opening reception at which each participating artist will be recognized. Participating artists will also be recognized in all promotional materials and press releases about the event.
Wall art should be framed (or at least matted) or on stretched canvas. Easels for small pieces that will go on tables in the exhibit area would be helpful. If the work is three-dimensional, organizers would appreciate your providing a pedestal. Easels and pedestals will be furnished for artists unable to provide them. Placement of each piece will be determined once it is known what kinds and how many works will be displayed. All art work needs to be appropriate for a family-friendly setting.
