Dr. Monteiro is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She recently moved to Tampa from Indiana University in Indianapolis where she served as attending surgeon. Dr. Monteiro completed an endocrine surgery clinical fellowship, an endocrine research fellowship, and a general surgery internship and residency at the renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, she was awarded the Graduate Medical Education Teaching Excellence Award in both 2013 and 2017. She also received the Ezra Steiger Research Award which recognizes the Chief Resident with Outstanding Contributions to Scientific Research. Dr. Monteiro is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, American Thyroid Association and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. She is the author of numerous journal articles, podium and poster presentations.
