Tampa— March 6, 2019 — The South Tampa Chapter of Young Men’s Service League (YMSL SoTampa) will host an information meeting for potential new members on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Jan Kiminis Platt Library. The Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) is a national non-profit organization that initiates and encourages young men and their mothers to pursue philanthropic involvement in their community and provides an opportunity to enhance mother/son relationships. The young men and their mothers participate in a four-year program of philanthropy, education and leadership. There are approximately 87 chapters in 11 states as of fall 2018.
The South Tampa chapter of YMSL was
established in 2012. YMSL SoTampa mothers and sons work together in service of various
non-profit organizations in our community, with a 20 hour per year commitment
required of both mothers and sons.
Members also participate in monthly meetings throughout the year which
are designed to teach our young men a variety of life skills and develop
leadership qualities. Membership is open
to rising high school freshman boys, with a limited number of memberships
available for sophomores and juniors. The March 14 informational meeting is for
mothers only and is open to those interested in learning more about YMSL
SoTampa Chapter membership.
