Tampa, Fla. – February 27, 2019 – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Austin Marshall Eason has joined the firm as an associate in Tampa. He is a member of the firm’s Health Care practice.
The addition of Eason is a nod to the practice’s notable year, following recent rankings in the 2019 U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” list for health care law, and the addition of five health care attorneys: Jonathan “Tre” Dixon, former senior vice president of compliance, legal, and risk management at Tampa General Hospital; Marguerita Brunson Sims, former senior corporate counsel at WellCare Health Plans Inc.; Emil Hirsch, former partner at Polsinelli; and associates Kristen Murphyand Megan Dhillon.
Eason’s practice primarily focuses on litigating medical malpractice, facility/premises liability, and nursing home and assisted living cases. He also has experience negotiating, litigating, and settling contract, construction, and commercial matters, as well as transactional work involving health care providers.

Prior to joining Carlton Fields, Eason practiced at the law firm of Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford P.A. Before entering private practice, he was an Assistant State Attorney for the Office of the State Attorney, 12th Judicial Circuit in Sarasota, Florida.
Eason earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and his B.S. in Finance from Florida State University. He is a member of The Florida Bar, the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court, and the Sarasota County Bar Association, where he serves as the Civil Trial Section Chair.
