Deadline extended to March 1st, 2019 for applications TBBCA Charlie Hounchell Art Stars Scholarships

$15,000 will be awarded to high school juniors & seniors for higher education in the arts

TAMPA, Fla. (February 20, 2019) – The deadline has been extended to Friday, March 1st2019 for Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture & the Arts (TBBCA) Charlie Hounchell Art Stars Scholarships. Six or more scholarships of $2500 each will be awarded to talented high school juniors and seniors in Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary Arts, and Visual Arts. Qualified students may apply in one, more, or all disciplines, via separate applications for each category. The guidelines and 2019 application may be downloaded from TBBCA website https://www.tbbca.org/programs-events/art-stars-scholarships/  There is no fee to apply. Applicants may contact TBBCA with any questions or to receive an application via email. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on talent and merit by a panel of judges who are experts in their respective fields. Winners will be announced in April, and showcase their talents at an awards ceremony in May. Scholarships go to help defray tuition expenses for higher education in the arts at the winner’s selected college, university or conservatory. Past winners have attended prestigious institutions, including The Juilliard School, Yale, Brown, Tufts, The Eastman School of Music, The University of Miami Frost School of Music, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Savannah College of Art & Design, Penn State, Northwestern, Belmont University, the University of South Florida, the University of Tampa, Florida State University, University of Florida, and others.
