Several Florida businesses teamed up, months after Hurricane Michael, to donate necessary clothing and items for Panhandle residents. Lisa Imperante, Owner of Luxe Salon & Spa in Sarasota, Meagan Dozier, Business Development Manager with Pelican International in Clearwater, Mitchell Blakemore, Owner of Panama City Printer and Pamela Horton, President of Maven’s Connections also in Sarasota created a donation drive for those in need especially during the colder months in Florida.
“Unfortunately, families are still homeless and are without proper supplies.
It truly is terrible. My heart goes out to everyone there, the victims, volunteers and their pets. Often, as time goes on, many people forget the aftermath of a tragedy, but the needs remain just as strong as when the trauma first hits” says Pamela Horton.
The idea to assist came to Pamela after speaking when Mitchell told her how supplies were low especially for the colder months. Pamela approached multiple businesses, but Pelican International and Luxe Salon & Spa were happy to collaborate and did so enthusiastically!
The donation drive took place several weeks and drop off points were at Pelican International and Luxe Salon & Spa.
Items that were donated included: Air Mattresses, Tents, Heaters, Blankets
Lights, Sheets, Toiletries, Camping supplies/cooking supplies, Food, Shoes, Socks
Jackets, Clothes, Hygiène supplies for Women, Men, Teens/Children and Pet supplies.
Thank you to the staff at Pelican International & Luxe Salon & Spa and the volunteers who transported the items back up to Panhandle. We couldn’t have done it without you!
