About Chinsegut Hill Manor Museum and Retreat Center
Set atop one of the highest elevations in Central Florida, the Chinsegut Hill Manor House, originally built in the 1850s, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nestled among magnificent oaks, magnolias and cabbage palms is a place so special that its owners called it Chinsegut, an Inuit Indian word meaning “place where lost things are found”. Some of our special visitors from the past were Helen Keller, William Jennings Bryant, Thomas Edison, J.C. Penney, Jane Addams and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. We hope you will be our next special guests.
