Nonprofit needs the community’s help to raise $2M to finish their new shelter to save more lives.

TAMPA, FLA – Feb. 4, 2019 – The Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) is one of the oldest charities in the State of Florida and has been serving homeless animals for more than 100 years. Founded in 1912, HSTB has been at its West Tampa location since 1928. The current shelter was constructed in 1960 and received additions in 1980. Marked expansion in their programs, services and community outreach has left the facility antiquated and unable to meet the needs of the Tampa Bay community. To continue serving the needs of homeless animals safely, effectively and humanely, a new building is imperative.
HSTB has launched their campaign “Shelter Them” to raise the final $2M to finish their new shelter. The shelter is set to break ground spring 2019. The new multi-story shelter will be built on their current property increasing their current adoption capacity. Some of the new facility’s highlights include puppy & kitten nurseries for underage litters, an isolation area for sick animals to reduce spread of disease, expanded medical & surgical suites and climate control in all areas.
Sherry Silk CEO, explains “We cannot open our doors until this $2M is raised. We are in urgent need of your help. Thousands of lives depend on us to shelter and feed them. As a community it is our job to ‘Shelter Them’. Make an impact and help us save lives.”
HSTB thanks Thomas Everett Lamb Design & Development, Inc. and DeBartolo Construction Services, LLC for making a new, improved shelter possible.
