BRADENTON, Fla. — Angel Colonneso, Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, recently received recognition for participating in three competitions at the 2019 Manatee County Fair.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, Colonneso and her German Shepherd, Lola Belle, competed in the Manatee County Fair Doggy Pageant and secured first place in the large dog class for Best In Show and Trick Performance categories by showcasing the obedience to lie down, come when called, sit and shake.

“We had a lot of fun that day,” said Colonneso, the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller for Manatee County. “I didn’t have the heart to tell Lola Belle she was the only dog in the large dog category.”

That day, the Arts and Craft Department held their competition where Colonneso received a second place ribbon in the Culinary Arts and Food category for her chocolate pound cake. The recipe for the cake was passed down from her late uncle Don, who owned the successful Flowers By Don before passing in 1977.

Colonneso also received a first place ribbon in the Photography category for an image she shot of the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, Italy.

“Being involved in the community is very important to me,” said Colonneso. “In addition to serving Manatee County through my role, I like to show my support for various community events throughout the year. I grew up attending the fair, and it’s wonderful to participate this year and meet so many wonderful residents in Manatee County.”

This year, the Manatee County Fair celebrated its 103rd anniversary.
