Valentwe’en is once more upon us! Come celebrate the holiday at the Art Lofts Gallery, located on the second floor above Florida Craftart. Valentwe’en is a unique holiday that combines elements of Valentine’s Day with Hallowe’en. Come dressed in your best Goth, or in costume as your favorite romantic couple. Give that special someone a black calla lily to show your love, or write a Valentwine (a romantic poem of Valentwe’en theme, such as “Blood cells are red, veins are blue, sucrose is sweet and so are you!”).
In addition to nearly two dozen Tampa Bay artists who are exhibiting in the show, the event has special guest, Dr. Paul Bearer of Creature Feature fame as the Master of Ceremonies and the art show judge. We are also hosting psychic Diana Prince, an intuitive with over 30 years experience as a reader and medium. Her specialty is to connect with those who have passed. She is doing 10 minute readings for $10 from 6 – 9 PM.
Award for first, second, and third place will be presented by Dr. Bearer at 7:30 PM. Come support local and emerging talent in this most unique celebration of all things spooky and lovely!
For those with a more ghostly leaning, the SPIRITS of St. Petersburg is sponsoring a ghost hunting 101 and ghost tour of Art Lofts on Feb. 16, from 7 – 9 PM. Learn the history of the building and help this paranormal investigation team determine just who lingers in the hallways after dark. This event does have a $20 charge, but money raised sponsors the Valentwe’en event. Bring your sweetie and have a fun time doing some ghost investigation!
