22nd Annual Treasure Island Sport Kite Competition and Festival
January 19th-20th 2019 (10am-5pm Daily)
The 22nd Annual Treasure Island Sport Kite Competition and Festival returns to Florida in 2019 for your enjoyment! Taking place on Treasure Island Beach, Florida behind the host hotel, the Thunderbird Beach Resort.
Windworks and the Eastern League are sponsoring and gathering competitors from around the U.S. to perform on Treasure Island Beach during the Martin Luther King Holiday weekend. Come be amazed by the talented kite flyers performing to music at this two-day event in dual-line and multi-line sport kite flying in a wide array of disciplines. As with previous years, TISKC (Treasure Island Sport Kite Competition) will be offering Team Multiline Precision and Ballet! Given the growing popularity of Group Multiline flying and the growing experience out there, this event will be spectacular. TISKC will also be offering a novice class competition for multi-line precision and ballet. If you haven’t participated in a multi-line competition, this is your chance! Individual precision events for Experienced and Masters Classes will be run according to program precision (formerly called league-style) rules. This format has proven to be more audience friendly and allows for a speedier running of the competition.
Windworks, from John’s Pass in Madeira Beach will be on hand for all your kiting needs including kid’s kites, stunt kites and accessories! Windworks will also be holding daily and hourly raffles in the kite tent all weekend. We are honored to have Prism Kites & Revolution Kites on the beach allowing the passersby a chance to learn how to fly stunt kites at no charge. There will be plenty of time to be social and spend time with the family on one of the best kite flying beaches in the country as large show kites and giant bubbles paint the backdrop for an exciting competition. You might even see candy fall from the sky! After the sun goes down there is potential for a night fly in the same fabulous location! (weather/wind permitting of course).
Remember, Monday is a holiday, so we urge you to plan on staying an extra day for recreational flying. January weather in Florida is usually ideal for kites, with mild temperatures and steady winds. Take full advantage of this opportunity to fly on white sandy beaches while many parts of the country will be covered in white stuff of a different kind!
This event is sanctioned by the Eastern League Sport Kite Association. Competing here will qualify you for Eastern League points, provided you are a member of the League before you compete.
