New Year = new produce. Meals On Wheels continues to deliver to 800+ homebound neighbors in Tampa

Tampa, FL – It’s a new month and a new year and there are lots of new opportunities. One thing that is staying the same is Meals On Wheels monthly Produce On Wheels (POW!) delivery program.
On Saturday January 19th, Meals On Wheels of Tampa will host their first POW! of the year. Volunteers, community businesses and community members will deliver produce bags to over 800 recipients. The POW! program is in partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay, Sanwa Farmer’s Market and Publix.
Produce will be delivered to MOW recipients’ homes all over Tampa. In addition to delivering a well-balanced hot meal everyday, MOW delivers fresh produce once a month as another way to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Diets with higher fruit and vegetable intake have been found to reduce risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, lower risk of eye and digestive problems and reduce the risk of some types of cancer.
POW! is delivered by caring and friendly volunteers. The Saturday POW! delivery is a great activity for families and new volunteers interested in testing out a route. If you, your organization, or anyone you know is interested in giving back to the community by donating a couple hours of your time, Meals On Wheels could use your help.
