The ArtsXchange Announces Debut of Coaxing Beauty
Award-winning Sculptor, Christina Bertsos, Exhibits in Downtown St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, FL (January 8, 2019) – The Warehouse Arts District Association (WADA) is excited to announce the opening night of award-winning sculptor Christina Bertsos exhibit, Coaxing Beauty: A Sculptors Discovery with Stone. Coming to the Tully-Levine Gallery at the ArtsXchange, Bertsos sculptures are designed with a highly intuitive, non-linear approach that crafts works of art which feel feminine, sensual and fluid. As a sculptor, Bertsos coaxes the natural beauty of the stone into moving expressions of form that invite the viewer to connect with something beyond the subject matter and to find their own physical and emotional experience.
“The stone and I are basically made of the same molecules with our co-evolution occurring simultaneously to the very specific moment in time that we meet. There is something mystical happening in that moment. For me, It’s a kind of a sacred dance or union. My passion and love for beauty are poured into each of my one of a kind works of art. As there are no two stones that are the same, none of them can be duplicated to exactness,” says Bertsos of her artwork.
Christina Bertsos is a self-taught sculptor with degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and Loyola University in Chicago. Since 2011, she has focused her artistic study and expression on stone sculpture, receiving local acclaim for the way her stone structures seem fluid and in a state of motion. She won 1st place in the Dunedin Fine Arts Center Annual Member’s show both in 2017 and in 2018.
