Valley Bank names Greg Olivier as Managing Senior Credit Officer

December 20, 2018 by Post

Greg Olivier, Managing Senior Credit Officer, Valley Bank

Greg Olivier, who has built an impressive record of managing risk in the banking industry, has been named Managing Senior Credit Officer at Valley Bank.

Olivier will lead commercial credit risk management for the bank in Florida and Alabama. He will also oversee the appraisal and environmental risk functions across Valley’s entire footprint.

Olivier joined USAmeriBank, now part of Valley, as Chief Credit and Risk Officer in 2014. In this role, he oversaw enterprise-wide risk management including credit risk management, loan and appraisal review, special assets and information technology.

Under Olivier’s watch, USAmeriBank maintained positive regulatory relations and excellent credit quality, while growing from $3 billion to $4.5 billion in assets. Valley acquired USAmeriBank in early 2018.

As Managing Senior Credit Officer, Olivier will now report to Mark Saeger, Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer for Valley, who monitors and manages the risk trends in the bank’s loan portfolio.

“Greg’s diverse banking experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead our team of risk managers,” said Saeger. “Effectively managing risk is a key part of our success at Valley, and we’re excited to see him accelerate our efforts in his new expanded role.”

Prior to joining USAmeriBank, Olivier was Chief Credit and Risk Officer for First Southern Bank, where he helped build a successful community bank through organic growth and FDIC-assisted bank acquisitions. Olivier was also Chief Credit Officer at First Horizon National Corporation, a position he held during the advent of the credit crisis where he led the company’s efforts to rebuild its credit culture and rehabilitate its loan portfolio.

Olivier is among a number of USAmeriBank executives who have stayed with Valley and now have broad responsibilities within the organization. Among the other former USAmeriBank leaders who have significant roles at Valley are Joseph V. Chillura, President of Florida & Alabama; Al Rogers, Chief Lending Officer of Florida West Coast; Mark Fernandez, Chief Marketing Officer; Joe Taggart, Director of Commercial Real Estate; and Ron Ciganek, Corporate Banking Director.
