Hudson, Florida (December 19, 2018) – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point announces that Pharmacists Kris Miley, Pharm.D., BCPS, Erika Mooney, Pharm.D., BCPS, Brittany Petrosky, Pharm.D., BCCCP and Nicholas K. Rigopoulos, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCGP have just received National Board Certifications by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties® (BPS). All four pharmacists passed a rigorous certification exam by the BPS.
“This ensures that they possess the knowledge for the safe, appropriate, and economical use of medications as part of inter-professional treatment teams in a variety of settings including hospitals and health systems,” said Kriston L. Bottrell, Director of Pharmacy at RMCBP.
The BCPS (Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist) has the advanced knowledge and expertise to optimize medication use, improve patient outcomes, and serve as an objective, evidence-based source for therapeutic information and recommendations.
The BCCCP (Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist) has the specialized and advanced knowledge to work with the critical care team in hospital ICUs to improve patient outcomes for various severely ill populations.
The BCGP (Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist) specializes in care for the geriatric patient (over 65 years of age) and has the advanced knowledge to work with the medical team to optimize the medication use for this increasing age-group in healthcare.
Kris Miley, Erika Mooney, Brittany Petrosky and Nicholas K. Rigopoulos and the other Board Certified Clinical Pharmacists at RMCBP apply their specialized knowledge of medications and work directly and collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals to ensure that the medications prescribed for patients contribute to the best possible health outcomes. They evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of the patient’s medications by assessing and recognizing the status of the patient’s treated or untreated health problems and consult with patient’s physicians in selecting the medication therapy that best meets the patient’s needs.
