Pasco-Hernando State College’s (PHSC) winter commencement, held on Tuesday, December 11, included presentations of two $10,000 donations to the PHSC Foundation provided by Rao Musunuru, M.D., member and past-chair, PHSC District Board of Trustees and nationally renowned local cardiologist. The donations created endowed scholarships in honor of Judy Parker, former PHSC trustee, and Rhonda Dodge, executive assistant to the president and to the district board of trustees at PHSC.
Awarded during the morning ceremony, Parker, who served as a member of the college’s District Board of Trustees for 16 years, and three terms as chair of the board, was recognized for her passion for higher education as well as her exemplary service in many community, non-profit and professional organizations. Parker was awarded the Judy and Frank Parker Scholarship. The late Frank Parker, a former New Port Richey mayor, city council member, and school board member, passed away in 2018.
Dodge was presented with the Rhonda Dodge Scholarship in the afternoon ceremony. Dodge recently celebrated her 30th anniversary as a PHSC employee. Through her long career, she worked with each of the college’s four presidents, from founding president Milton O. Jones, Ph.D., through current president Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D. Dodge was commended for her consistent outstanding professionalism, dedication and commitment to PHSC.
“We are grateful for Dr. Musunuru’s ongoing support of PHSC students, said Lisa Richardson, Ed.D., PHSC associate vice president of alumni and college relations/executive director of the PHSC Foundation. “Countless students and many PHSC programs have benefitted greatly from his generosity.”
In the past year, the Pasco-Hernando State College Foundation has awarded $1,000,000 in scholarships to benefit PHSC students.
