Tax Collector Mike Fasano & Staff Raise $15,500 for Florida Breast Cancer Foundation

November 27, 2018 by Post

During the month of October Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano’s five offices partnered with the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation to help raise funds and awareness of breast cancer, its symptoms and treatments. October, which was national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was the perfect time to feature the sale of the Foundation’s “End Breast Cancer” specialty tag. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Florida (excluding skin cancer). It is estimated that about 12,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.

The five branches of the Pasco County Tax Collectors Office promoted the sale of the “End Breast Cancer” specialty license plates as well as the voluntary check-off donations on automobile registrations. 43 plates were sold in October. Combined with cash donations, a total of $15,500.00 was raised to help “End the Suffering Caused by Breast Cancer.”

“In the last five years, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office has repeatedly sold the highest number of End Breast Cancer license plates,” states John Capurso, Interim President & CEO of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. “This year, their voluntary contribution check-off donations are equal to the number of donations received from all the 66 counties in Florida. There are no words that are adequate to describe how grateful we are to the Pasco County Tax Collector, Mike Fasano, and his staff for their enthusiasm and loyal support.”

“The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation has done a remarkable job over the years to not only raise awareness of the needs of breast cancer patients, but to fund organizations that are working to find better treatments and ultimately a cure,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “The Foundation encourages regular screenings to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages, for both women and men. Thank you to a very generous community that supported our efforts to help find a way to end a disease that afflicts so many.”
